We are a communion of cultures united by the love of Christ, striving together to be "the hands and feet of Christ" on earth.

Thomas Merton

Thomas Merton

Tuesdays: February 12, 19 & 26
10:00 am - Church Chapel
Facilitator: Deacon David Nolan

These three sessions will offer an introduction to the life and literary legacy of perhaps the greatest American Catholic spiritual thinker of the 20th century.  We will explore his development as a Cistercian monk, an incredibly prolific writer, and a man with a prophetic insight into the social issues of his time and ours.

 Facilitator: Deacon David Nolan

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, David “grew up” with Thomas Merton. Making his first retreat at the Abbey of Gethsemani in 1958, he read parts of “The Seven Story Mountain”.  He attended Bellarmine College, the home of Thomas Merton Center and the International Thomas Merton Society. Ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Venice in 1987, he has been a serious student of Merton for the last 40 years.
