Our parish family is about to receive a powerful Lenten mission to deepen our experience of true happiness! A man who has been blind for most of his life will present the mission. Fr. Mike Joly, a parish pastor, director of retreats and Catholic recording artist, will open up five essential movements necessary if we are to be truly happy as God designed.
Fr. Joly was born into a Catholic family in Cumberland, RI, the eighth of eleven children who shared three bedrooms and one bath. At age 5, surgery to remove a benign brain tumor pressing against his optic nerve led to his blindness. Fr. Joly attended Providence College and Rhode Island College and received his Bachelor of Sacred Theology and Masters of Divinity degrees from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore. Ordained a priest in 1994 he currently serves as pastor of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Yorktown, VA.
Fr. Joly is also a Catholic recording artist, singer and songwriter. In recent years, the Lord has permitted the production of two contemporary Christian music records.
